#### Math:

• I can fluently add & subtract within 20 using mental strategies. By the end of 2nd sums of two one-digit numbers.

### Trimester 3 Reading & Math Standards

• R.5 Describe the overall structure of a story, including describing how the beginning introduces the story and the ending concludes the action. By the end of third trimester, all second grade students will be proficient in standard 2.R.5 as measured by the May F&P and teacher created common formative assessments.
• R(RI).10 Read and comprehend literature and informational text in the grades 2-3 text complexity band proficiently with scaffolding as needed at the high end of the range. By the end of third trimester, all second grade students will be proficient in standard 2.R(RI).10 as measured by the May F&P and Performance Assessment.
• RI.2 Identify the main topic of a multiparagraph text as well as the focus of specific paragraphs within the text. By the end of third trimester, all second grade students will be proficient in standard 2.RI.2 as measured by the May Performance Assessment and teacher created common formative assessments.
• RF. 2.4 Read with sufficient accuracy and fluency to support comprehension. By the end of third trimester, all second grade students will be proficient in standard 2.RF.2.4 as measured by the May F&P and teacher selected fluency probes.

### Second grade math power standards:

• OA. 1 Use addition and subtraction within 100 to solve one-& two-step word problems involving situations of adding to, taking from, putting together, taking apart, and comparing, with unknowns in all positions. By the end of third trimester, all second grade students will be proficient in standard 2.OA.1 as measured by the May Math Common Core Test and teacher created common formative assessments.
• G.3 Partition circles and rectangles into 2, 3, or 4 equal shares, describe the shares using the words halves, thirds, half of, a third of, etc., and describe the whole as 2 halves, 3 thirds, and 4 fourths. Recognize that equal shares of identical wholes need not have the same shape. By the end of third trimester, all second grade students will be proficient in standard G.3 as measured by the weekly addition and subtraction timed tests and May Math Common Core Test.
• MD.2 Measure the length of an object twice, using length units of different lengths for 2 measurements; describe how the 2 measurements relate to the size of the unit chosen. By the end of third trimester, all second grade students will be proficient in standard 2.MD.2 as measured by the May Common Core Math Test and teacher created common formative assessments.
• NBT.2 Count within 1000; skip-count by 5’s, 10’s, and 100’s. By the end of third trimester, all second grade students will be proficient in standard 2.NBT.2 as measured by the May Common Core Math Test and teacher created common formative assessments.
