My name is Becky Pionke (pronounced Pea-on-key) and I am thrilled to be teaching 1st grade at Grant Wood Elementary School this year. This year is my 15th year teaching. I taught fifth grade for one year, third grade for three years, and first grade for nine years in Plainfield, Illinois. This is my second year teaching in Iowa. I hold an undergraduate degree from Northern Illinois University, a Master’s degree in Curriculum & Technology from Benedictine University, and a second Master’s degree in Administration & Leadership, also from Benedictine University.
My family and I currently live in Hiawatha, although I grew up in the Quad Cities and have spent the last 18 years in the Chicago Suburbs. My husband, Tim, is a director for CRST. We have two boys Dylan (4) and Gavin (2). We love experiencing the world with a new set of eyes through our little guys. We enjoy spending time as a family, reading books, playing games, visiting museums & zoos, and playing at the park. J
I love teaching First Grade because it is an exciting year of learning and growing for your child. This is a year of important transitions, as well as one with acquisition and application of new skill is accelerated. Additionally, I believe that what happens in our classroom has a large impact on your child’s future. Your child’s time here will be well spent. Thank you for your involvement and support! Please let me know if you ever have any questions or concerns. 319-558-1108 firstname.lastname@example.org Let’s have a great school year!
